Godson des Forges launches

In 1998 I started my residential property career working for W A Ellis Llp - the firm was iconic for its longevity of name and people, it was a company everyone wanted to work for. During the formative years that followed I learnt the qualities needed to stand out from other agents, principally from my boss’ infectious enthusiasm and breathtaking knowledge of so many addresses and their residents, past and present. I loved my job when so many of my friends hated theirs. I was made an equity partner in 2011, before the decision was made to sell to JLL in 2014. I spent seven happy years there as Residential Director which included setting up a Chelsea office.

My enjoyment has always been agency, at the coal face – from client facing, to meeting buyers and working out what might be the perfect home for them. Ultimately, by using my years of experience to instil confidence and trust.

So, in 2022, post-pandemic and with a healthy dose of trepidation, my long-suffering colleague and friend Simon Godson and I made the decision to go it alone.  After 24 years of being in the same room (the office, that is) we knew we shared ambitions, values, experience, work ethic and good humour; we wanted to create something that represented all these values and continue, perhaps, for another 24 years. And Godson des Forges was born.
